Philippine Trade and Investment Center Guangzhou
Brief Introduction of the Philippine Trade and Investment Center Guangzhou
The Philippine Trade and Investment Center Guangzhou (PTIC Guangzhou) is the international arm of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) of the Republic of the Philippines. It is also the commercial office of the Philippine Consulate General Guangzhou. Established in 1995, PTIC Guangzhou is responsible for promoting and facilitating economic cooperation between the Philippines and China. PTIC Guangzhou works with both private sector and government agencies from both countries in order to fulfill its twin main objectives of increasing trade and investment flows between the Philippines and China.
The Philippines has one of the world’s richest biographic areas, and is the most biologically diverse in the world. It is a natural fishing ground with over 2,000 fish varieties in the 150 million hectares of marine waters surrounding its 7,107 islands and its 17,640 kilometers of irregular coastline. The country is one of the world’s major tuna exporters and has resources that make it an ideal place for marine industries. Its fertile lands make it one of the world’s largest producers of coconuts and a major exporter of coconut products, producing more than one-third of the world’s copra. Fresh fruits and other agricultural products are abundant in the Philippines; it is the only Asian country that ranks among top global banana exporters, and is also proud to produce the best mangoes in the world. It also has vast mineral resources and is the fifth most mineralized country in the world, with considerable reserves of gold, copper, chromite, nickel, among others.
But more than its natural endowments, the Philippines is proud of its people – a young, flexible, highly educated, English-speaking workforce that has made the Philippines a top choice for investors especially in business-process outsourcing jobs such as customer contact centers, accounting and payroll management, engineering, software design, animation, etc.
